What does IDTV mean?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IDTV
Integrated Digital Television incorporating a digital receiver.

An Integrated Digital TV or IDTV incorporates a digital receiver and does not therefore need a separate set-top box.

The display device includes a tuner and digital decoder and the essential functions of a set-top box.

Generally intended for receiving digital terrestrial television, this removes the requirement for an external digital receiver or adapter, although the reception of satellite or cable services will typically still require a separate set-top box. Copyright © 2006 informitv

Freeview
Digital terrestrial television service in the UK.

Freeview is the trade name for the free-to-air Digital Terrestrial Television or DTT service in the UK operated by DTV Services Ltd, a joint venture company run by its three equal shareholders, the BBC, BSkyB and Crown Castle International.

Freeview was formed after the collapse of ITV Digital. The Freeview consortium was awarded the licences for the multiplexes made available following the failure of the commercial operator.

The Freeview service provides access to a range of channels that can be received using a set-top box or an integrated digital television or ITDV through a conventional roof-top aerial.
